As a patient, I have never met an RN with whom I have had an immediate connection. This is my third hospital stay here at Simi in the last seven months. Josie has a heart of gold, and on top of that, she has an incredible work ethic and can truly empathize with her patients. My first hospital stay, seven months ago, I met Josie. She was my main RN. One night I felt sad, was ill, and very lonely. I started crying. Josie sat down on the bed with me and held my hand. She assured me that I was going to be okay and listened. Josie said, "I think you need to stay another night", so I could get better and that she would be there for me. Her calmness, yet happiness helped me get through that night. If I could say one thing about Josie is that she is a leader and has a special gift of understanding a patient's illness, but keeps your illness on the positive side. Her smile and laughter are contagious! When you have been sick for so long, even the smallest things in life matter. I will always remember Josie during that very hard night. It was Josie and her empathy mixed with her sunshine that kept me going. Thank you for always being there for me and all of us here at Simi. You are a special gem that is very hard to find.
