She lights up the room with her smile and encouragement, no matter what.
I am a 17-year-old girl having to get surgery to get a very large cyst on my right ovary removed. There were many unknowns, and the waiting period to see if I had cancer was the hardest. It was very unexpected and scary, but with Joslyn here, it made it a lot better. She was very sweet, welcoming, and kindhearted during my process. She is very easy to talk to, and she is always making sure I’m comfortable and feel ok. She never fails to make me smile and laugh during the uncertain times. She walks into my room, and her smile is very contagious. She lights up the room with her smile and encouragement, no matter what. She is very empathetic in understanding how I feel and goes above and beyond in everything she does. My favorite thing is that she takes the time to get to know me as a person and doesn’t treat me like just another patient she “has” to take care of. She didn’t make me feel like a patient; she made me feel like a friend. She took the time to get to know what I like and my interests. My favorite thing about her is our bond over 'Love Island', and she takes time to have conversations with me about anything. We talked about our pets and things we like to eat, and we even had our little inside jokes, “What’s up, shorty?” She not only got to know me but also my family and visitors who mean a lot to me and would always ask everyone’s name. And makes sure everyone has anything they need. In a time when we want to cry, she brought joy and laughter into the room. She will always be near and dear to my heart. When I look back at this journey, I won’t look back on it as a negative thing. Because of her and the impact she made on my life, this will ALWAYS be a positive. Not only Joslyn but all of the other nurses, surgeons, and many more made this better, and I wanted to thank them for their hearts and what they do.
