My wife, M was recently admitted into the ER at Mountainview, due to severe pain in her stomach, and was diagnosed with appendicitis. The medical attention she received during her three days in the hospital was great, but I wanted to specifically acknowledge the care she was given by her night shift medical surgical nurse Jovi. One of the hardest parts for any family member of a patient (especially a spouse) is leaving the care of their loved ones in the hands of a potential stranger (albeit a nurse). When visiting hours are over, we can only hope our family is being treated properly overnight. However, when I returned the morning after M's first night, all of my worries and anxieties were quickly put to rest when she told me about Jovi. Jovi exceeded what a nurse was capable of through her kind and sympathetic bedside manner. This was the first night M was able to sleep peacefully all week, and this was because of Jovi's proactive and attentive attitude toward her patient. She was able to cater to M's needs, not only when asked, but when she could physically see M in any type of distress with her calm and comforting demeanor. She talked M through any physical or mental discomfort she was feeling through the night. She treated M with kindness care and compassion, we all hope our loved ones receive in our absence and this is why we believe Jovi is a DAISY Nurse. I hope she knows that her work during our stay was appreciated and that she should be celebrated for demonstrating what a genuine nurse should be thank you, Jovi!
