My healthy and talented daughter suddenly fell ill and received a diagnosis of Diffuse Pontine Gliomas, which are highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumors found at the base of the brain. Because of this, she was on a strict regimen of medication which made it difficult for her to sleep.
Joy Cardace was the charge RN and when she rounded on us. During her shift, she noticed that I was exhausted with worry about my daughter's prognosis. Joy took the time to reassure me and explained that I needed the power and energy to be strong for my daughter. Joy set up an atmosphere that allowed me to get the much-needed sleep that I needed. The following days I was able to continue to get my rest thanks to Joy.
In addition to absolute professionalism, Joy has a big heart. She understands children and parents, she is very patient and kind. Despite many years of hard work, Joy has maintained a sense of empathy. She sees how to help patients, and she correctly assesses the situation from the first minute and knows how to help.
