After leaving the hospital, I realized that my glucometer had not been included with my discharge medications. I tried calling the pharmacy and the hospital several times but was unable to reach anyone.
Eventually, I was able to speak with Charge Nurse Joy, whom I had interacted with during my stay. Although the pharmacy had already closed, she listened with genuine concern and assured me she would follow up the next morning.
True to her word, Nurse Joy called me the next morning and arranged for the glucometer to be delivered to my home. Because of her prompt action and follow-through, I was able to safely monitor my blood sugar as needed.
Nurse Joy went above and beyond her duties to ensure my safety and well-being even after I had left the hospital. Her compassion, accountability, and commitment to patient care truly represent the heart of nursing. I am deeply grateful for her kindness and believe she truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award.
