We are so fortunate to have Joy on our team. She is kind, wise, selfless, and always caring about other people.
I would like to nominate Joy Nnadozie for a DAISY Award. I recently met Joy as she attended one of my NLA courses. During that time, Joy attended the Thursday class and was also required to attend the Friday session. Joy did just that. However, on Friday morning, I started talking to Joy to see how she was enjoying the class because she was very engaged and shared so many valuable ideas that everyone also appreciated. However, what struck me the most was that Joy told me that LTAC was short-staffed on Thursday night and she felt that she could not let her team down. There, she went to work that night. Joy arrived in the morning for the NLA class and told me she was glad that she went in "last night" because a patient coded, and she was glad she was there to help the patient and her team. My heart went out to Joy because here is a nurse who is so devoted to helping others and still developing herself.
We are so fortunate to have Joy on our team. She is kind, wise, selfless, and always caring about other people. When I think of the DAISY Award and what it truly stands for, it is the gratitude that I have for Joy to be on our team at Emory. She willingly took a class and went to work the same night to help patients, and then turned around and took another class. To me, that is a dedicated nurse, through thick and thin, there she was giving of herself. The end result was that she saved another life that night and saved her staff. It is an honor and privilege to nominate Joy for the DAISY Award for going above and beyond!
