Joy Taggart 2, RN

I came to the ER not able to breathe. This had me very anxious and scared. From the start, Joy had a steady voice, telling me to slow my breathing and how to breathe better. She stayed with me and told me what they were doing. I had to go to radiology for a CT scan, and I thought I would be okay; when I got there, I had to lie down almost flat. When I did that, I felt like I really couldn't breathe. The X-ray staff called the ER for medication to help Joy and me come over to X-ray. They asked me to lie down again, and everyone had to leave me alone in the room. This really scared me! I did not want to be alone when I felt like I could not breathe. Joy told the X-ray staff she would put on a shield apron and stay with me—and she did. She shielded my hands or my head, and she let me squeeze them. I bet I really hurt her, but she still stayed. The scan was finished quickly, and Joy took me back to the ER herself. Joy made sure I knew what was going on and continually asked what I needed and how she could help.
