Joy helped us all through a very intense time.
While my aunt was on 3 East, her daytime nurse, Joy, was absolutely amazing. She called me and told me how agitated my aunt was getting due to her high blood pressure. She ensured me that she would stay in the room to chart until I made it up there. Sure enough, when I arrived she was in the room and took the time to explain everything that was going on. At all times she demonstrated care and concern for my aunt. That evening I left the hospital feeling assured that my loved one was in the best hands. I couldn’t possibly thank her enough.

Joy took care of our mother while she was a patient at Jackson. She took excellent care of Mama. All of the time she was so gentle, so kind, so caring, and so compassionate. She worked nonstop on the IVs, the medications, the fever, and keeping Mama comfortable and stable. It is impossible to mention everything. She worked continuously and yet she always had a spirit of joy, peace, light, and hope that kept us all going. I know that Mama could feel that. My brother and I certainly did. She is so knowledgeable and smart. She explained the phases that Mama was going through. She was a blessing to Mama and to us.

Joy helped us all through a very intense time. I cannot comprehend how she kept up the technical pace that she did, and at the same time gave everyone the emotional support that she did. A superhuman angel at Jackson Hospital. What she does is not a job. It is her life, her heart, her soul. She was so efficient and yet so compassionate. She also answered questions about how to turn Mama and use pull sheets. This was invaluable to us when it was just us taking care of Mama at home before she died.
