June 2026 Honoree
Joyce Darko, RN
Ms. Joyce showed me compassion and kindness that was above and beyond. She was genuine. It is not only her job but also her true calling to help others. I was admitted to the hospital with horrific pain to find out I have cancer. MS. Joyce was the angel that was sent to me to care for me. She would be very deserving of this award.
---
My grandmother was admitted to the hospital with severe back pain and was ultimately diagnosed with cancer in her spine, pelvis, and several other areas. Throughout much of her stay, she endured tremendous pain until her medical team was able to get it under control.
Joyce went above and beyond to care for my grandmother and ensure she was as comfortable as possible. Her compassion extended not only to my grandmother but also to our entire family. She provided support, comfort, and reassurance during an incredibly difficult time.
Joyce consistently demonstrated exceptional bedside manner, taking the time to listen, help, and genuinely care for both my grandmother and our family members. Her dedication, professionalism, and tireless work ethic were evident every day. She is highly knowledgeable, skilled, and truly outstanding in her role as a nurse.
We are forever grateful to have met Joyce and to have had her caring for our grandmother. She made a lasting impact on our family, and we sincerely hope that if our grandmother requires further hospital care, we will be fortunate enough to have Joyce as her nurse again.
Joyce is extremely deserving of an award such as the DAISY Award. Our family cannot thank Joyce enough, and we will never be able to repay her for her kindness and care.
---
Very Nice. Motherly. Good Care. Excellent and would recommend for care.
---
She was alert and careful about my needs, sensing when I needed care, being alert to the tests and problems. She didn’t leave things to feeling but took care factually. Then when I couldn’t eat solids for over 48hours, she alerted the doctor of my condition in such a way that he tended to it within an hour.
When the doctor responded and told me I would get to go home. I prepared to do so, but she was excellent in handling my husband’s impatient response. I feel that Joyce has gone beyond the normal duties of her care and concern for me as an 89-year-old woman.
---
My nurse has provided me with the best care I’ve ever had. She was prompt, courteous, on time, and did what she told me she was going to do. She took her time and answered all my questions. She cares, and that means a lot when you’re sick.
---
My 91-year-old mother was here for 10 days. She was on 4N for 7 and moved to 6N the last 3. Joyce was always kind and explained everything to mom, who was often confused. She went above and beyond to make sure mom was well cared for.
---
She took care of my uncle. She was one of the best nurses I’ve dealt with in a long time.
---
Joyce has been on point with everything and anything I needed. Made sure my tests and medical records were corrected from the night before. She is a great asset to CRMC. I am honored to have her as my nurse.
---
I was in here on hold, and Joyce was my nurse for two days. The second day of my stay, I had a panic attack. Joyce was totally here for me with a million hugs. She is so lovely, and I hope she wins this award. I hope you guys can keep her forever.
