Joyce Price, BSN, RN

After my husband’s feeding tube came out at home, we spent several hours in the ED, before being admitted. When we got upstairs to his room late that evening, we met nurse Joyce. She listened carefully in a professional yet compassionate manner to what had happened. When Joyce spoke to my husband, who has Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s, and dementia, she got directly to his face and, in the kindest manner, made eye contact with him like she was speaking to a close family member. My husband responded favorably to her kind bedside manner! Without being asked, Joyce brought me water and two blankets, as she could tell that we had been through an exhausting experience.
 
I will never forget Joyce’s caring confidence. I remarked, “You have the right name, Joyce!” She radiates confidence in what she is doing and shows a genuine care for her patients. Joyce understood that my husband had not had food or drink for over 24 hours.
 
I have been in hospitals before for myself and my husband, and by far, Joyce is the most caring and professional, and servant nurse ever! She was on task with all of his needs, as he is incontinent and needs extra care. She carefully listened as I went over his meds, supplies, and even creams for his incontinence needs.
