Joyce would always enter my husband's room like a ray of sunshine. Despite the fact that my husband was in pain and sleep-deprived, causing him to be somewhat irritable, she would maintain her sense of humor, ultimately getting him to lift his spirit. Joyce went out of her way on multiple occasions to be a patient advocate and make several patient situations more tolerable. She always carried an air of professionalism and was efficient in managing her nursing care. All of these characteristics are traits that I always attempted to instill in my nurse practitioner students.
