Joyce would double-check her team overlooking the monitor and making sure everything was keyed in correctly.
I entered Methodist with a non-threatening illness so I thought. My first three tests were good. I felt comfortable that I would be going home until I was told I needed to take one more test. The final test was a blow to hear. I had a blood clot in my lungs which was devastating news. Upon reaching the sixth floor, I was introduced to RN Joyce's team. They immediately started to give me the emotional care as well as the physical care demanded. I had asked another caretaker if I suffered from anxiety. What a question. Ms. Joyce never doubted my emotional state. It was like she and her team knew exactly how I was feeling. Her warmth, compassion, and encouragement were so displayed. She answered all my questions politely. She came in to check on me often. She and her team brought smiles even at difficult times.

Medically she didn’t rush out of my room. She would double-check her team overlooking the monitor and making sure everything was keyed in correctly. And when she passed the shift to the next team, she was so thorough and positive; always remaining positive. I would hate to see her leave. You have to love what you do and the people you serve. Although you may see many patients and repeatedly do the same thing, each person is different and new to you. Joyce is a DAISY Nurse for her empathy and respect for others she serves. Kudos Joyce! I believe I will survive.
