My husband came in thinking he may have pancreatitis or a kidney stone. Joyce was the nurse. She happened to be in the room with the ER doctor came back in with the most devastating news; stage 4 renal cancer that had metastasized to both lungs, liver, and brain. I walked outside to cry, and Joyce was two seconds behind me and she held me and put her arms around me while I completely lost control. Not only did she hold me, but her compassion was so genuine I could literally feel her empathy. She made me feel like I was a part of her family. Since then, my husband has been admitted several more times and each time she comes to hug both of us and let us know she is praying for us. She is the most wonderful nurse ever.
