Joyness Rodriguez recently celebrated one year of service with us in Cardiac Rehab. On that day, she went to the bedside for Cardiac Rehab education and, through patient interaction, found someone who communicated the want to end their life. She took it upon herself to reach out to the hospitalist to inform them of the situation and to hold discharge so that additional care and services for the patient could be provided. She treats all her patients with care and compassion, and she is a pleasure to be around. She is an exceptional nurse. She interacts with cardiac patients during sensitive and scary time in their lives. It means a lot to the patients when they see a nurse who genuinely cares and takes the time to use critical thinking skills for a greater impact on their overall mental health and well-being. This person is in a unique role where she can impact our inpatient and outpatient populations.
We look forward to her growth here at AH HOF as she brings her strengths to the department and exhibits AH service standards to our patients every day.

Yes, I do remember when Joy would see me in the hospital. I would be so happy to see her because I was so lonely, and my husband was not able to visit me. Seeing her was something that I looked forward to. It was also very helpful because she spoke Spanish, and I was able to understand what she was explaining to me. This is why I decided to do this therapy program here.

I am in Cardiac Rehab for the procedure that I had done, and the nurses who have taken care of me have done a superb job with my recovery. They are very helpful and always listen to my concerns, and they also make rehab fun to attend.
