May 2019 Honoree
juan lopez mesa, RN
I went down to Florida from Dallas, TX for a birthday, and I took a hard fall. I had what they initially thought was TBI although it became a subdural hematoma. All through the time I was in ICU and in a sedated state, Juan would come in there and check on me. He brought me joy and laughter throughout everything I was going through. He even, I think on his day off, when I went to have half my skull be put back in, he showed up. While I was in ICU, he called my mom in Texas every day to let her know how I was doing. He was an absolute rock star!
When I went to have my skull replaced, Juan even asked me what would make me smile and I asked him to dance. He broke out and laughed as hard as I did. He shared his personal cell phone to let me reach my mom in Dallas and was the kindest individual I have ever met. He made my stay there better with the trauma I had been through. He showed me joy and happiness. His positivity passed onto me even with what I was going through. I will never forget him as long as I live. He changed my life knowing he cared! I can't thank him enough. And this is Juan's calling!
Send him some love from Dallas, Texas!
