Juan treated my husband and me as if we were family. I would have never gotten through that week without Juan.
Juan Mera is recognized by his peers as a unit leader and frequently serves as the charge nurse. He is often the first to respond to patient emergencies throughout the hospital and helps support and mentor the less experienced staff. Juan is known for providing excellent care to his patients and prides himself on working with the critical patient population. He can often be seen educating, supporting, and consoling his patients and families, who benefit greatly from his caring, professional approach to each case.

This letter is long overdue. My husband passed away in the ICU this year. I have lived in Cornwall my whole life, so I am very familiar with the hospital. My husband’s passing was not expected, and I am only four months into the grieving process, and it is very difficult, to say the least.
I have worked in the medical field for 20 years- technician, phlebotomist, surgical coordinator, and patient coordinator. I am very familiar with how difficult and rewarding it can be. You are dealing with multiple patients and families, all of whom are very upset about the hospitalization. Some may be difficult to work with, and some provide a feeling of success. I won’t bore you with all the details that transpired from Sunday to Friday when he passed away. I wish I could remember all of the nurse's names, but there is one that I could never forget- Jaun. I must give him the highest accolades. He is the most hardworking, considerate, thorough, kindhearted person I have ever encountered. He is truly an angel from above. Juan should be in a teaching capacity to show nurses how to treat their patients and families. Juan treated my husband and me as if we were family. I would have never gotten through that week without Juan.
