Dr. Healey Walsh, while leading UMass Boston 's Center for Clinical Education and Research (CCER) and co-leading the undergraduate program as an administrator in AY 2015-2016, completed the requirements for her PhD.  She is an archetype of excellence as a teacher and handles numerous administrative, educational, and research-oriented work with dogged commitment. Her effort to study for her PhD in Education and Human Development, requiring research in Kenya, is a testimony to her long desire to advance her own knowledge and skills to be a member of the faculty at CNHS while taking on the Director of the Undergraduate Program role over the last two years. It is also a testimony to her love of learning and pedagogy at the local and global level that she continues to mentor others while being passionate about her own teaching.
Dr. Healey Walsh works tirelessly to create an intellectually challenging and nurturing environment for our students and faculty.  Dr. Healey Walsh is a teacher of distinction beyond her positive teaching evaluations in Community and Public Health Nursing. Those of us who know her acknowledge that she 1) respects students, 2) creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom and outside of the classroom, 3) is accessible, 4) represents an enthusiastic faculty member in larger forums in the university, and 5) is one of the most flexible people we know.
