Judi's follow-through and dedication to her patients, in such a huge department and organization, really help those vulnerable individuals who already feel less control over their health due to illness and/or disease.
I have been a patient in the Oncology Dept., at the KP Tacoma Specialty Center, since 2013. It was then that I began being monitored as far as my blood count because I had a blood disorder called MGUS, in which 10% of those having this condition, proceed to eventually have Multiple Myeloma. Well, I was not one of the lucky 90% and found myself being monitored every 3 months with the eventual rise in the number of cancer (plasma) cells. In addition, I have had several bone marrow biopsies and bone marrow MRIs throughout the years. Whenever I am concerned that I have not received the results from the KP (GH formerly) secure line, I write an e-mail and Judi always jumps right on my needs and gets back to me asap. When you are anxious and waiting for the test results, this type of 1:1 attention really makes you feel significant, even though there are so many waiting on test results. Judi has even called me to let me know that whatever complaint or anxiety I had at the time, is being overseen. Her follow-through and dedication to her patients, in such a huge department and organization, really help those vulnerable individuals who already feel less control over their health due to illness and/or disease. Her personable skills and competence always shine through. I think Judi is an exemplary nurse and one who should definitely be recognized.

Judi has always been there for me. It might be tracking down blood tests and MRI results that have to be sent to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance or releasing blood test results that have not been released. As soon as I e-mail the Oncology office, she follows through on whatever task needs to be done to resolve my issue. I know that I am just one of many people who come through the Tacoma Specialty Center's Oncology Dept., but she always gives me 1:1 treatment and helps me with my anxieties. Unless you have some disease or illness and have been frustrated by the lack of communication, you would never understand what it means to a patient to have someone in the office who treats you like your concerns are her concerns and that's Judi. She deserves recognition for her tenacity, her patience, her attitude, her competence, and her caring and empathetic behavior.
