In 2009, my world was turned upside down. At the age of 29, I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. It has now been 8 years that I was diagnosed and have had multiple surgeries and procedures at various facilities. I've encountered numerous nurses, too many to count that have cared for me. However, after all these years there is one nurse that I will never forget and will always be grateful to.
Judy Fry was one of my nurses after I was first diagnosed. Judy is a role model for other nurses and is a valuable asset to your nursing organization and the nursing profession. It was obvious that she is passionate about her patients and her job. She goes above and beyond by providing extraordinary and quality care. She made me feel that I was her only patient, even though I know I was not. She was compassionate and empathetic.
I remember after my surgery I was having a lot of pain and was very emotional. Judy made me as comfortable as she possibly could with pain medications. However, she didn't stop there. One thing that I will never forget is when she sat down on the edge of my bed with me, taking my hand and asking if she could pray with me. She was like an angel that day. Judy brought me so much peace. When she was caring for me I never felt afraid or alone.
Judy met all my needs, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She was not only an angel to me but also to my family. Judy took the time to involve my family in my care and explained things to them in a way that they could understand. Without Judy, I don't know if I would have made it through the most difficult time in my life. Judy was and is an angel sent from God!
