I was admitted to the short stay unit and left a week later, after open heart surgery. It was a surreal and frightening experience. Judy sensed my fear and explained every step of the process to me and my family. She tried to ease my anxiety with her compassion and kindness. She listened and she explained and comforted me. Judy went so far as to come up to the 3rd floor the morning of surgery before her shift to reassure me I had the best doctor and nurses looking out for me. I saw her a week later in short stay and she immediately recognized me and gave me the biggest hug and said "See everything is ok and you look great!" Judy helped me through a very difficult and emotional time. It was her genuine kindness and concern for me that eased my fear and helped me to recover. Judy is most deserving of this DAISY Award.
