Judy is a wonderful and caring nurse all around, but recently she went above and beyond for a patient and his family. One of our oncology patients came to us in extremely bad shape. He had relapsed after getting a "clean bill of health" and had quickly declined. His family was attempting to keep him home but were soon overwhelmed with the difficulty of care he required. When the patient and his family arrived they were all very anxious and their stress levels were through the roof. Judy took the parents aside and told them that we would take over and they could focus on their son and his final days. The stress level was very apparent and they later told her when Judy "relieved them," that it was the best gift she could have given them. They spent their sons' final days as his parents and not his nurses, which gave them time to say goodbye properly. She helped make the transition to hospice care. Judy always seems to know just what to say when someone needs encouraging words. Judy truly cares and she is the picture of a DAISY Nurse.
