Julia Bernaiche, RN

Julia cared for my mother while she was in the ICU for a traumatic brain injury. When my family and I arrived at the ICU, we had been told that there was no hope. We didn’t believe our mother would not survive. Julia never treated my mother as if she were a patient about to die. Instead, she advocated for her to the ICU doctors to encourage him to order another CT scan. Miraculously, the scan showed a significant decrease in the brain bleed. Julia believed that my mother’s movements were purposeful and not spontaneous. After that, Julia formed a bond with my mom, asking about her favorite music so she could play it during my mother’s evening bath. Julia had hope for us when we couldn’t. She brought a positive, gentle energy to her care. My family and I cannot express our gratitude to Julia enough, and we would like her above-and-beyond care to be recognized. Especially for as young as she is, Julia has an incredible career ahead of her in caring for and loving her patients and their families.
