Upon being moved from recovery to my hospital room, I was met by Julia. I had the privilege of having her as my nurse from 5 p.m.-7 a.m. Julia engages with her patients. She gives you time. She does everything so thoroughly, and with excellence and emotion. Each time she came into the room, I knew that I was much more than a job. Her eyes met mine and showed caring and compassion.
Julia is very observant. She knew that I was scared of looking at my scars. She gently pulled the gauze down and instantly became my cheerleader. "You're doing great! You've got this!" By 9 p.m. she bravely talked with me about emotion. She said, "If this happened to me, I would want to see what it looks like." She guided me carefully to the bathroom, we pulled down the covering and she explained everything to me. The moment that I had most feared became something I can handle because of Julia. Julia is wise beyond her years. When I heard that she had graduated in 2019, I was surprised as she is so perceptive, while also exemplary at every task involved.
I will always remember our quick talks at each visit. I had many 'biology' questions that she explained better than most teachers.
Julia indeed observes, knows what to do to make things work and her goal is to move you forward. She does this with emotion and offers outstanding care.
