I had surgery and was told I would be going home the next day. I have a neuro-genic bladder which requires me to self-catheterize 6 times a day. So I brought the appropriate number of catheters I would need for the day of surgery and most of the next day. They did not put a contained surgery inside for some reason so I used my own. So the day after surgery the Surgical team informs me I'm going home that day. So now I start to panic because I don't have enough catheters to get through the entire day and the following night. Enter my new nurse for the day at 8:00 A.M, Julia Boughton. She realized my predicament and said she would inquire about getting the catheters I needed right away and as she is true to her word she worked on it from 8:00 that morning till 6:00 that night among other issues I was having and general nursing through the day. She got me up and around walking the hallways so I wouldn't have any complications with my bowels after the surgery and actually walked with me from time to time. So at 5:00 p.m. that evening I used my last catheter and started to get really nervous. But who comes strolling into my room at 6:00 p.m? The angel on my shoulder Julia Boughton with the only box of catheters the hospital had to suit my needs. My military service took me halfway around the world and I have never in my life met a woman so selfless, outgoing, generous, caring, sincere, and genuine in my life. Her dedication to me and her other patients and true to her standards and convictions are unspeakable. The career she chose to become a nurse was a gift from God to me and her peers!!!! The only thing I regret is that I only had the opportunity to know her for that one day. She is the kind of person that you long be around. Never has my heart and soul been so touched by this beautiful person. Thank you Julia for all your help and I know you will be running that entire ward yourself someday.
