Words cannot explain our gratitude and appreciation for Julia’s hard work and commitment to getting my dad to the right place for his condition.
My dad was in the hospital for AFIB, and during his stay, we hit multiple roadblocks. What started out we thought as a simple cardio Version to address the issue ended up with a blood clot, reactions to meds, and the inability to regulate my 85-year-old healthy dad. After 10 days of a roller coaster ride, we thought he was going home, but yet a final scare as he was waiting for discharge was his BP and heart rate to slow and low. The meds were no longer an option.
They were ready to transfer him to the ICU due to his heart having a long pause between beats. Our family wanted him to move to Boston, where his other doctors are. Julia went above and beyond; her shift was to end at 7:00, but she was on a mission to help support my dad and my family. She printed out results and paperwork, took photos, and got them to Boston. Julia made phone calls for a bed and justification for him to be moved. Julia stayed until after 9:00 when she was certain an ambulance would come, and he had a room at Brigham in Boston. My dad spent another week and got a pacemaker and ablation in Boston. Even with the blood clot, we had success.
Words cannot explain our gratitude and appreciation for Julia’s hard work and commitment to getting my dad to the right place for his condition. It is nurses like this who are far and few between; my family and I wanted to recognize and nominate Julia for the award. Thank you, Julia, and we will be stopping in on the floor with a thank you card! My dad is doing great, and if it wasn’t for Julia’s hard work, I’m not sure it would have turned out so positive.
