From the beginning of my stay, Julia was a warm and welcoming face, ready to help in any way she could. Her sense of humor helped lighten my stress of being in the hospital. One of the antibiotics I was on was causing me terrible itching on my head. It was unbearable. Honestly, I wasn't sure if I had an allergy to it, but I know I needed these antibiotics to treat the infection. Julia took it upon herself to contact the doctor and came up with a plan to alleviate my itching. She came in with an IV shot of Benadryl (I couldn't have anything by mouth) before this antibiotic. She contacted the pharmacy and was able to adjust the rate of the antibiotic flow to make it easier. The result - no itching!! I was so thankful to her for advocating for me. She had a student nurse with her and always explained everything she was doing. She was a natural trainer. Julia not only did a great job as a nurse, she cared about me as a person. We shared pictures of our dogs and told stories about them. That really lifted my spirits. She arranged for the therapy dogs to visit me because she knows my love for dogs. Julia was the complete package of knowledge, skill, care, and love for her patients. I am so grateful she was a part of my care!
