"In the past four years, Dr. Snethen has taught successfully 27 courses at all levels of the curriculum. Additionally, she has served as a major professor for 14 PhD students, a member on another 8 PhD committees, and a faculty supervisor for 10 DNP students and master students projects. 
Dr. Snethen developed a Winterim Study Abroad course to Thailand. In this international educational model, she integrated theory components and clinical experiences within a course, and students were involved in research training through collecting and managing data. After the course, students were able to continue working with Dr. Snethen on a practicum to manage and analyze the data that was collected. Outcomes from the research include 45 international, regional, and statewide oral or poster presentations, doctoral student research practicums, mentorship of three current and future nurse researchers in Thailand and multiple manuscripts with the research teams under development for publication. 
Dr. Snethen is also (among many other things) the faculty advisor for the Nursing Student Association (NSA) at UWM. "Julie empowers students to become leaders who strive to achieve more than is expected of them in the classroom, and she does this without any expectation of reward. Earlier this year, there was a Wisconsin Student Nursing Association conference in the middle of the state. Our NSA group was missing the necessary funding to allow all members to attend. Dr. Snethen worked with the dean and other faculty to provide funding to the whole group. She then worked with NSA student officers to reach out to and encourage any students wanting to attend this conference to do so. This conference provided invaluable professional development and networking experience for myself and other students who attended. I consider it one of the highlights of my experience as an undergraduate nursing student."
