I do not think I have ever seen a person so dedicated to her job and more importantly, her patients. Julia always displays a positive, professional attitude making patients feel more relaxed.
I first entered the infusion clinic in early March. That was the first time I was introduced to the excellent staff. As time progressed, there was always one who made the visit special. Julia was always kind. I noticed that she would go out of her way to not only work with her patients but with all patients. It was amazing to see her take care of her patients and jump right in to help another patient that needed assistance. Over time, I have become friends with her and looked forward to seeing her when I came in.
Fast forward to the present time. In these past few months, I saw her do some extraordinary things for me personally. During one infusion, the chemotherapy arrived, and the inner bag was broken. Being concerned, she immediately contacted the pharmacy to get another bag while contacting the nursing supervisor. She managed to get the replacement bag in record time by constantly requesting the status of the chemo. Then there was another time when I had to wait for over three hours for a blood transfusion to arrive. Again, she worked to expedite the delivery and to find out why it took so long. She made my wife and me as comfortable as she could during the meantime. I am sure it would be considerably longer had she not investigated.
I have seen a few nurses ask the technician to obtain a set of vitals. If Julia is not extremely busy, she does not hesitate to obtain the vitals herself. When receiving transfusions or infusions, many nurses in the unit will set the pump alarm and then I do not see them until the alarm activates. Julia will come in two, three, or more times to check on me.
I do not think I have ever seen a person so dedicated to her job and more importantly, her patients. She always displays a positive, professional attitude making patients feel more relaxed. Oh, the last thing – she has one of the most joyous, and contagious laughs. I can tell she is working before I arrive in the unit as her laughs pervade the hallway! I think I can speak for all the patients there—we LOVE YOU!
