April 2017 Honoree
julia vise, RN
Julia was the first nurse who cared for our mother when she was in CVRU after open heart surgery, and we were lucky to have her numerous days over the time Mom was in the unit. Julia is the ideal combination of brains and heart, always ensuring that we knew what was happening, explaining it in layman's terms with clear empathy to the distress that Mom was in. She also introduced us to the Palliative Care Team, something we knew nothing about, but very appropriate given our mom's condition. We had many discussions as a family as Mom failed to progress and were comforted when we arrived at the hospital on her final Sunday to see Julia there as her nurse. Her caring actions on that day will never be forgotten as she ensured Mom's comfort along with ours, never questioning or passing judgment for this difficult decision. As sad as our time was at NCH, we will hold Julia as a positive influence when we reflect on those long 10 days!
Thank you, Julia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
