Her leadership, compassion, and commitment have created a place where people want to stay, grow, and give their best care.
Since my first day on the unit just under a year ago, I’ve witnessed an incredible transformation in our team and environment—and much of that credit belongs to our manager. Often underappreciated, she works tirelessly behind the scenes, yet the impact of her leadership is deeply felt. From improving staffing ratios and reducing burnout to strengthening team chemistry and significantly decreasing patient falls and CAUTIs, she has helped shape a more structured, supportive, and high-functioning unit. She advocates for her staff relentlessly—even when no one’s watching—and is always willing to listen to feedback, implement suggestions, and celebrate team wins. Whether shouting out someone’s “infectious spirit” or commending another for “sweet and exquisite care,” she reminds us how meaningful our work is. She stepped in as interim nurse educator during a time of need, supports bedside staff directly (even helping change patients when she can), and actively participates in high-level hospital initiatives—collaborating with HR, speaking with the CEO about strategic goals, and aligning unit work with long-term institutional vision. Sometimes the ones making the biggest difference don’t seek the spotlight—but they deserve it the most. Her leadership, compassion, and commitment have created a place where people want to stay, grow, and give their best care. She truly exemplifies everything the DAISY Award represents.
