Jules took a personal and invested interest in our family and always requested him when she was working. She knew how much better we felt having her as his nurse, and even when he was a difficult, time-consuming, critical patient, she was always there for him.
Juliann (Jules to our family) proved herself to be a true DAISY Nurse after her exceptional care of my husband before he died. My husband was in and out of the hospital for over a year. She was his nurse as he recovered from complications from surgery in early 2017, and when she heard he had come back to the hospital in late 2017, she came and saw him on the hospital floor to visit and evaluate him (not in SICU, which is her normal unit).
Jules was incredibly attentive to his needs, and my family never felt so at ease as when Jules was his nurse for the day. Jules was the first to wash his hair after weeks of no one washing it (other than dry spray shampoo), and from then on, he always got his hair washed if she was his nurse. She always did the jobs no one else wanted to do, like changing his wound bags, shaving his face, etc. She would also take him outside in his wheelchair to the healing garden so he could have some fresh air and sunshine.

She wasn't flashy, but just the comforting feeling she gave my husband and my family on a daily basis helped us get through this dark time.
Lastly, she along with a couple of other SICU nurses helped my husband in surprising me for my birthday because he was so distraught after missing every holiday, birthday, and anniversary for over a year. I will always hold this memory close because it was the last birthday we celebrated together.
