I was admitted through the ER with a small bowel blockage. When Julianna came on duty, she quickly assessed that a new pain strategy was needed. She went to the doctor and received an order so I finally got some relief. Throughout the next 3 days, Julianna calmly and frequently checked back to make sure that we "stayed ahead of the pain". She was able to sort through my complicated medical conditions and quickly prioritize needs. She showed compassionate competence at a level that is admirable. She is an asset to your institution. Other nurses could learn a lot from Julianna about pain management!
