Julianna Wagner, BSN, RN
Julianna is exceptionally kind and empathetic towards her patients, always. This week/weekend, I have witnessed her compassion reach a new level.
Our unit is combined neuro and cardiology. In one of the rooms under the neuro service, there was a patient who was not expected to recover from his devastating injuries. There were lots of visiting family members for this patient, among them was his 3-year-old daughter.
This child was clearly drawn to Julianna; they greeted each other every day with warm smiles and enthusiasm. Julianna cut out paper hearts for her to wear, took her around the unit to show her some of our fun staff boards and exchanged stickers with her. During this difficult and undoubtedly confusing time for this little girl, Julianna was, without a doubt, a light in her day.
This child was brought to our ICU for one of the most horrendous reasons imaginable but found comfort and joy in her encounters with Julianna. This is a level of caring that is above and beyond and deserves to be recognized. I am proud to call Julianna my coworker and appreciate her incredible contribution to the healthcare team.
