She taught me how to be compassionate and understanding while talking to a patient about their struggles or concerns.
Julie always goes above and beyond for her students!

Julie was always extremely supportive and easy to talk to. She was great at answering questions and providing us with information to make sure that we were successful during clinical. She is very passionate about psychiatric nursing, and she is an amazing advocate for patients. I always felt comfortable discussing my work at school with Julie and asking any questions I had. She taught me how to be compassionate and understanding while talking to a patient about their struggles or concerns. I can’t thank Julie enough for helping me become confident in my communication skills and nursing skills, which she helped me with during my time with her at the college.

Julie always goes above and beyond to make sure we are ok mentally not just with school. I genuinely feel so comfortable and loved in her presence.

Julie has gone beyond out of her way for some of my closest friends in their darkest times, which not only saved them, but their friends as well. Julie has also gone above and beyond for me. Despite not being assigned to me as faculty, she is still always the first to let me in her office to talk, the first to offer advice, and the first to do whatever is needed to help me. We love you, Julie!! GO BILLS!!!!

Julie does not only have an exceptional knowledge base and clinical skills but is also a phenomenal instructor and mentor. She is incredibly passionate not only in her line of work but also in the success of her students. Throughout my experience at St. Joe’s, she has continued to be one of the most influential roles in both my nursing and personal development. In the clinical nursing role, she always takes time with each patient and notices cues and abnormalities quickly and addresses them effectively. She is a phenomenal and engaging professor in both clinical and lecture settings, and has an incredible knowledge base and understanding.
Personally, she has had the most influence on my personal life. Nursing school was a hard adjustment at the beginning and continues to build upon not only our knowledge but also our demands. During my 3rd semester, I began to feel completely overwhelmed by many aspects of my life, including nursing school. I needed to ask for help, but I was worried about how that might look or what people might think, and I quite frankly did not know what I needed help with. I eventually, with the help of a few of my close friends, reached out to Julie for help since I was comfortable with her and being an outpatient PMHNP, along with her instructor role, we knew she would be able to assist me with finding resources. Not only did she go above and beyond in working with me to find resources that would benefit me as an individual, but she took into account what I was, and was not, saying in order to best work with me. She truly cares for all her students, and she listened to everything I said to her and took that into account when discussing supports and resources. Without Julie, I would not be here today, graduating nursing school in May.
