Throughout my doctoral studies, Julie was a constant voice of encouragement, helping me maintain balance while simultaneously challenging me to grow in my role. Her ability to support development while setting clear expectations has shaped my professional identity and set the standard for the leader I aspire to be.
There have been many moments in my career when I felt discouraged or defeated. In those moments, Julie not only offered compassion and reassurance, but also stood firmly beside me—encouraging me to step into uncomfortable spaces that ultimately strengthened my confidence and effectiveness as a leader. Her guidance and belief in me have played a pivotal role in my success over the past four years as a Regional Manager."

One of the most meaningful examples of Julie’s advocacy was her decision to nominate me for the Nursing Catalyst role, at a time when I was navigating elements of imposter syndrome and questioning my readiness. Rather than allowing doubt to limit opportunity, Julie listened thoughtfully, provided reassurance, and served as a trusted sounding board.
She offered a safe space for me to share ideas openly, helped me thoughtfully scope the project, and reinforced my confidence by affirming my capabilities and potential. Her belief in me allowed me to step forward in a meaningful way and embrace leadership growth. I successfully graduated from the 1st Catalyst cohort, and my project successfully impacted my team's engagement scores.
Julie consistently partners with her customers and colleagues to deliver exceptional services within our department. She leads by example, actively serving on system-level committees and governance groups to ensure educational initiatives are thoughtfully designed and aligned with organizational priorities. She is highly diligent in seeking and incorporating feedback from others, ensuring that the right stakeholders are engaged on committees that directly influence the development and delivery of education. This intentional approach strengthens outcomes for end users and enhances the experience of our internal and external customers.
She is equally committed to partnering with system stakeholders to achieve the appropriate balance of expertise and perspective, allowing work to be completed effectively and accurately the first time. Julie’s collaborative leadership style fosters trust, accountability, and shared ownership across teams. A recent example of Julie’s impactful leadership includes her partnership with Patient Experience leaders to develop targeted educational programming. This collaboration directly influenced patient experience metrics and contributed to measurable, positive improvements in overall system scores.
