We had a <2 year old patient who was brought in by ambulance for a fall. The patient, his mother and sibling are staying at a shelter. The patient was cleared for discharge at a late hour and the mother and staff were unable to find a safe ride home for them as the mother did not have a vehicle or car seats.  Julie spoke with staff at the shelter, who reported that they would allow the patients’ families into the shelter after their “normal” hours if a safe ride were established. Julie clocked out, went home, and retrieved her vehicle with two car seats. She returned to the ED and took the patient, his mother, and his sibling back to where they needed to go. Julie was not asked to do this. She offered to help in any way possible.
