Julie was my husband's night nurse during the last 3 nights of his life. We had decided to stop heart-saving medications on Friday morning and began comfort care. It was a very scary and unbelievably sad and emotional time for all of us, and Julie was so kind and compassionate throughout the whole experience. She carefully explained what was happening at all times to us. Julie was also wonderful about taking care of me, knowing what a difficult experience watching my husband die was. Saturday night, my husband was very agitated and wanted to get out of bed. Julie was so gentle and calm about the whole situation. My husband never regained consciousness Sunday and all night Sunday night was ongoing stress waiting for his last breath. Julie was such a calming and peaceful presence to have with me through such a traumatizing experience. It felt like she was meant to be with us for it. We are grateful to Julie, and the whole 2 West floor.
