I came in via the ER and had an unplanned appendectomy. Julie Cottrell took care of me pre surgery as I waited all day and then the next day on my discharge day. She was kind, compassionate and caring. I never felt hurried or like I was a bother despite the fact the floor was short staffed and she was covering all duties (no CNA or other support staff was there). She was reassuring and followed up on everything.

I especially appreciated that she helped me plan for obtaining my prescriptions. She knew that local pharmacies sometimes didn’t have Lovenox in stock and she knew that I was relying on friends to help me out. So she called the local pharmacy and then recommended that I use the hospital pharmacy to fill the prescription. That way I’d know I’d have it and wouldn’t have to be chasing after it. The prescriptions were ready before I left and she helped to check them over.

I know she was very busy but she never made me feel that way. I felt I was the only person she was taking care of. I know for her it was just another day at work. But for me it was an important experience that helped ensure I was on the road to health.
