Julie is a Board Certified Registered Nurse on the Med/Surg/Peds unit at Broadlawns Medical Center. She is going into her 25th year. What initially attracted her to Broadlawns were the type of patients served and the mission of the hospital. She also had a very good interview with the Director of the Department. Everyone was so friendly and she really like the small community feeling within the hospital compared to the other hospitals where she had interviewed.

The things that keep her here are still the type of patients Broadlawns serves and the mission. She also works with very talented and caring co-workers. She continues to see special things happen on a daily basis. There is never a dull moment. Some of the things she is most proud of are precepting new staff to nursing, getting her board certification in medical/surgical nursing, being an active member of the Nursing Professionalism Council and the accomplishments of the council and participating in the Career Advancement Program (CAP).

Her goals at BMC are to continue to train new staff, support her unit and provide the best care she can to her patients. Julie is a long-standing member of the Iowa Nurses Association and the American Nursing Association. Membership in these organizations helps keep her in touch with nursing progress across the country as well as in Iowa.
