Dad was a patientand admitted for surgery. He was an overflow patient to the floor, an oncology unit. Because of his old age, major surgery was a great concern for him and for me. Normally, he would have been on a surgical floor, but being an overflow patient would turn out to be our great blessing.
You would think a person of my dad's age would have a poor memory, but it is extremely important to him that Julie receive this honor and has asked me many times if I've submitted this nomination. Julie's skillful, compassionate nursing care nourished Dad both mentally and physically. Her gentle touch, compassion, and joyful personality are just what an older patient needs, as they are often disoriented and anxious in a strange place. In a nutshell, he thrived both in the hospital and to this day. Her joy gave him joy.
But, that's only the half of it. I still need to touch on Julie's attention to every little detail of his medical care. She made sure he was never in discomfort or in need of anything in regards to her nursing duties.
In closing, Julie is bright and smart in everything she does; that is obvious. Why is she an over-the-top nurse, you ask? Because it all comes from the heart and that is what touched our hearts. She is a treasure to your hospital. Because of her, Dad will not be afraid or anxious to come to the hospital again, and when you're getting near 90 years old you can't get better than that.
Our warmest regards to Julie and your staff.
Note: This is Julie's 2nd DAISY Award!
