Ms. Julie Eve Mugas is an exceptionally excellent preceptor. She is very knowledgeable and aware of standards, always emphasizing patient safety and quality patient care and teaching me how to adopt this knowledge into practice. Assimilation into a new country and culture is challenging along with the multicultural workforce but throughout my preceptorship period, Julie has gone above and beyond the normal preceptor role. Even now that she is no longer my preceptor she is still my mentor in many other things.
Ms. Julie has shown through her care and knowledge how to adapt a person into the care setting, she has made me feel welcome and has allowed me to settle and integrate into a new department with new knowledge in a manner that compliments my already acquired experience. All of these qualities are translated into her patient care. I have observed first hand how she has made a difference in not just one but all of the patients she cares for.
Ms. Julie's way of teaching has encouraged me to learn and be inquisitive about all the new materials and has given me a quest to improve my knowledge within the hospital. She is a prime example of how a nurse should function. She is a DAISY Nurse and is a good representative of how a Magnet Nurse should be in its entirety. She is a true mentor and I aspire to be as great a nurse as she is.
