This former patient leaned on Julie for not only dialysis needs but also emotional needs during some very hard life decisions.
Julie goes out of her way to accommodate her patients. She arranges her schedule to make sure it is at the ease and convenience of her patients and families. She is proactive in their treatments to ensure they are getting the best care not just reactive when something is going wrong. She builds relationships with each patient and they form a bond with her. The patients trust her and I have personally seen them thank her for how kind and involved she is with not only their dialysis care but their lives.
Julie formed a special bond with a former Salem PD patient who went on to be transplanted and now works as a tech in our Centralia clinic. This former patient leaned on Julie for not only dialysis needs but also emotional needs during some very hard life decisions. Julie is naturally a caring and loving person.
Nephrologists whom she works with also have that same trust in her clinical decisions. She also helps on the ICHD side as well when we have trouble sticking someone she is always willing to come and help. When the FA is out of the clinic for whatever reason she steps up as a leader of the team which gives me great comfort in knowing that she is there to help handle things that come up. They also have great respect for her so it helps with the morale as well. When we identify a home candidate she comes out to the floor and meets them right away and is always “bubbly” and very welcoming which makes the patients very comfortable with her from the beginning and helps with their transition to home.
I would add that we once had her dad as one of our patients here in Centralia, so dialysis is very close to her heart. She definitely goes above and beyond. She is a very caring person and nurse and I know that each patient or patient’s family that she has touched would wholeheartedly attest to that.
