Julie spent a few nights caring for a patient who was end of life. She spent a lot of time just sitting at the bedside with the patient after her son had left, holding her hand and talking to her. We thought for sure, this patient was going to pass overnight and as Julie's shift ended she was still hanging on. Julie knew that there wasn't much time left, but she also knew that the patient's son would not make it back in time to be with her as she passed. After working 12 long hours overnight, Julie passed off her group to the day shift nurse taking over and remained with this patient until she passed away. With her kindness, selflessness, and compassion, she demonstrated the iCare values that we have here at Chester County Hospital. I am proud to work beside such a wonderful nurse.
