Julie was the nurse taking care of a patient receiving an infusion. About halfway through the infusion, the call light went on and the patient's spouse stated the patient wasn't feeling well. Julie's high level of clinical skill noted something wasn't quite right. Julie paused the infusion and obtained vital signs, noting the patient's oxygen level was deteriorating. Julie remained calm, reassuring both the patient and the spouse that we would take good care of them. The patient was transferred to the Emergency Department and the spouse was concerned about her partner and about getting back to the car, as the spouse felt lost in the building. Julie took the time to help the spouse get back to the car and then to her partner. Julie's commitment to not only her patient but to the spouse goes above and beyond. I have had the honor to work with Julie for years. She arrives every day with her only focus to provide the best care possible for her patients and their families. She exudes commitment to excellent care.
