During the Covid spike when the PACU was an inpatient area, Julie went above and beyond to help not only staff but the patients as well. Julie worked the night shift and 12-hour shifts, normally she works in the OR 5 days a week and 8-hour shifts. Not only was this a huge lifestyle change for her during this time, but she always had a positive attitude and gave each patient exceptional care. Patients loved having Julie as their nurse and always commented on how sweet, compassionate, and fun she was!

During the time at the end of 2020, with the surge of Covid, our surgeries were shut down and we took overflow inpatients into the PACU. Julie stepped up and volunteered to not only work nights but also to take a full load of overflow patients. Throughout her career, Julie had only worked in the OR, never taking floor patients except in nursing school. She demonstrated a positive attitude, was willing to help out in any way, worked together with everyone as a team! Julie really stepped out of her comfort zone to help during the Covid crisis.

During the Pandemic she was engaged and offered to work nights caring for patients in the overflow unit. She took great care of patients. She was totally out of her comfort zone, yet embraced the situation. She bonded with the patients and had an awesome attitude during the entire period.
