Our 87 year old father was admitted to the Hospice Home Care program in October. Being totally new to the hospice program simply added to the angst and complexity of this trying time for our family. We have since realized how fortunate we are that our father has been under the care of Julie Oberlitner. She's left a significantly positive impression on all of us, prompting this letter to the hospital and her leadership team.
Julie has continually demonstrated a great deal of knowledge about hospice care, in conjunction with effectively communicating with both Ward and his family. Julie also conveys a genuine compassion and caring that is rare and greatly appreciated. This unique combination of skills, compassion, and personality makes Julie stand out. She has even called us on the weekends to see how father is doing and is always highly responsive whenever we need anything.
If there is any type of new-hire hospice training for RNs, we suggest having them shadow Julie to see how a caring, skilled hospice RN operates from the patient/family perspective. Please let Julie and her leadership team know how much her efforts are appreciated. She has truly been our Hospice "Angel".
