In her thirty-six years as a St. Joseph's Medical Center registered nurse, Julie has made a positive impact on the lives of thousands of patients and staff members. Julie has filled roles as a staff nurse, wound/ostomy nurse, nurse educator, and most recently, Director of Clinical Education. In each role, Julie has been a tireless advocate for patients and for staff. She brings a high level of professionalism, energy, dedication to excellence, and a passion for patients and for nursing to every aspect of her work. As a nurse leader, Julie demonstrates servant leadership in every interaction, and in her approach to each situation. Her passion for helping new nurses grow clinically and as professionals is evident in her work co-creating the SJMC Nurse Residency Program. At the One Essentia level, Julie's ability to lead in a way that fosters collaboration and teamwork has been instrumental in moving that team forward.
When I think of those among us who best display our Benedictine values, I realize Julie lives out each one of them, each day. Woven into her happy, positive approach to every situation, Julie exemplifies Hospitality, Respect, Stewardship, Justice, Quality, and Teamwork. And she makes it looks easy through her strong faith-based approach to life and nursing. I can't imagine a nurse leader more deserving of accolades for her lifetime of contributions to our profession, to patients, and to nurses.
