My husband was taken to the ED via ambulance. I followed in my car from home. My anxiety was mounting with his health situation and the unknowns. When I walked into the room that he was in, she greeted me with a smile and said she would be the nurse caring for M. Her calm, soft voice assured me that everything would be ok. She explained what she was doing and provided much-needed reports. She always asked if I needed anything. Even a blanket as the room was a bit cold. Only a person with kindness and compassion would be so attentive. What a weight lifted as I knew he was in great hands. She had empathy, knowing what I was going through with the care that I provide to my husband, who has Parkinson’s and dementia. She brightened my day despite the emergent situation. What a gem!
