Julie helped a patient and the ED RN she went to complete a medication record with the patient and family. The family was stressed that the elderly patient had soiled herself and the bed and they had been waiting a long time for someone to clean their mother up. Julie, without question, took the time to clean the patient, change the bed and to assure the family everything was being done. They were extremely thankful to Julie. The ED RN also, expressed gratitude. This was a night that ED was very short staffed of RN and PCA.
A family had a 3-4 yr. old child who was so restless, running in the hall, making lots of noise and very disruptive. The mother was very ill. Julie asked the family if they would allow her to find a snack for the child and also paper with coloring markers to help. They again were very appreciative. The child was hungry and was attentive to coloring.
