Valasek stopped to take the time to advocate for not only our dying mother, but the family as well. She was thoughtful, empathetic and took the time to deal with family dynamics
Three middle aged women traveled a total of 6,000 miles to make it in time to say good-bye to our mother; the most precious woman in our life. The care given at CRH was second to none. All caregivers were extremely professional and certainly had the knowledge, skills, and abilities to care for our mother. However, one employee, Julie Valasek had more empathy, compassion, and understanding than all others combined. All were excellent, but Ms. Valasek stopped to take the time to advocate for not only our dying mother, but the family as well. She was thoughtful, empathetic and took the time to deal with family dynamics with an expertise that cannot be taught in school. I am the head of Human Resources for 43 hospitals in a system that has 78 hospitals. We employ about 27,000 RNs and I would put Ms.Valasek up against any of them for the all important Patient Experience scores to include family experience. As our mother was clinging to life for about 4 days, Julie ensured that our mom was comfortable and had the dignity she deserved. She communicated with us as things progressed and ensured that we knew of any changes while we sat with our mother around the clock. Ms. Valasek not only was there to do a job, or fulfill her shift, she was there to take care of our mother. She rallied when mom did, she calmed the storms when they were happening and never gave us false hope for changes. Again, all caregivers were amazing, but Ms. Valasek should be recognized based on first hand knowledge of the profession and the care received.
